We worked with Jim Ananich, a tireless advocate for those affected by the Flint Water Crisis, on his State Senate campaign to represent the 27th district of Michigan, which includes Flint. We created a bold brand that embodied his warm, approachable persona, exemplified by the use of a handwritten typeface.

We were eager to dive back in when Jim was interested in hosting an annual fall fundraising event in October 2017. We created a brand and invitation suite for State Senator Jim Ananich’s new signature fundraising event – Flint Fall Fest. We put together a brand rife with a unique, illustrative flair–complete with a cartoonized version of Jim himself! Since Jim is well-known and well-recognized in the City of Flint, we played into his recognizable likeness and brought a more personal touch to the piece by including a custom caricature him.

The event was a huge fundraising success: the Ananich team raised over $20,000 at the event – a 6 to 1 return on investment. They had 130+ donations total, and almost 50% came from the mail-back return card system we designed. These results, which were a valuable source of small-dollar donations, illustrate the effectiveness of our design work in political fundraising.
